ChatGPT Ads Pixel Helper is an independent Chrome extension for inspecting browser-observable ChatGPT Ads Measurement Pixel activity. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or maintained by OpenAI.
Getting started
- Open the website you want to inspect.
- Reload the page after installing or updating the extension.
- Select the extension icon in the Chrome toolbar.
- Review detected Pixels, events, requests and implementation issues.
- For a larger view, open Chrome DevTools and select the ChatGPT Ads panel.
Main features
Scan Page
Runs a one-time scan for the documented Measurement Pixel SDK and common tag-manager or consent-platform markers.
Start Test Session
Clears earlier records for the current tab and starts a temporary timeline while you interact with and test the site.
Show Technical Details
Shows detection methods, sanitized event data, page context and additional implementation evidence.
Clear Data
Removes the temporary diagnostic records for the current browser tab.
Demo Lab
Demo Lab lets you explore every feature without a live advertiser website.
- Open the extension popup and select Open Demo Lab.
- Run Healthy conversion journey.
- Reopen the popup to inspect the generated Pixel, events, request and timeline.
- Try the duplicate, malformed, privacy-masking, failed-request, custom-event, multiple-Pixel and consent scenarios.
Demo records are marked DEMO_FIXTURE_V1. Demo Lab does not load the Measurement Pixel SDK or contact an external server.
Troubleshooting
No Pixel activity is detected
- Reload the page after installing or updating the extension.
- Confirm that the documented Measurement Pixel SDK is installed on that page.
- Check whether consent settings, Content Security Policy, an ad blocker or browser privacy controls are blocking the Pixel.
The SDK is found, but initialization isn't observed
Initialization may have run before the extension started observing the page. Reload the page and confirm that the official initialization snippet runs successfully.
A Pixel is detected, but there are no requests
Trigger a real conversion event, then review the consent state, browser blocking, Content Security Policy, and the Network section of the ChatGPT Ads DevTools panel.
An event is marked malformed
Expand the issue to see its evidence. Compare the event type, amount and currency pairing, and custom-event options with the latest official Measurement Pixel documentation.
The toolbar badge doesn't update
Open the target tab, select Clear Data, reload the page and start a new test session.
Privacy
All analysis happens locally in your browser. The extension has no analytics, telemetry, user accounts or developer-operated backend, and it never sends browsing activity, URLs, Pixel IDs, event payloads or customer information to PPCBlogPro.
Potentially sensitive values (email addresses, phone numbers, names, addresses, authentication fields, payment identifiers and customer-data hashes) are masked before they are stored or displayed. URL query values are redacted and URL fragments removed.
Temporary records are cleared when the tab closes, a new top-level navigation begins, the browser session ends, or you select Clear Data. Full details are in the privacy policy.
Permissions
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
| Website access | Pixel implementations can live on any advertiser website. Observations stay on your device. |
| Tabs | Identifies the inspected tab, sends scan requests, and clears state when a tab navigates or closes. |
| Web request | Observes metadata and status for the documented measurement host without blocking or modifying traffic. |
| Storage | Keeps temporary per-tab diagnostic state in Chrome session storage. |
Limitations
The extension reports browser-observable evidence only. It cannot confirm Ads Manager configuration, campaign attachment, attribution, reporting acceptance or server-side deduplication. "Not observed" doesn't necessarily mean "not configured."
It does not provide legal or consent-compliance advice. Always compare findings with the current official documentation and your organization's requirements.
